Understanding credits

Credits are the unit used to pay for research activity on the Theo Platform. Because different types of research require different tools and levels of computation, the number of credits used can vary depending on what Theo is doing.

For example, conducting a literature review and invoking mathematical computation require different underlying resources, so they may use different amounts of credits. More computationally intensive actions will generally use more credits than lighter-weight ones.

Credits for free accounts

Every free account receives a one-time grant of 1,500 credits. You can use these credits across the platform to explore Theo and carry out research.

As you use Theo, credits are deducted from your balance based on the actions performed. You can view your remaining credit balance at any time from Account Settings → Credits.

Purchasing additional credits

If you need more credits, you can purchase them from the Credits section of your Account Settings. Purchased credits are added to your balance and can be used across the platform in the same way as your initial free credits.
