What is a session?

A session is a persistent research workspace for one bounded research topic. It can contain multiple chats that explore different questions, methods, or branches while sharing the same overall research context.

At the system level, a session is the full working scope of a bounded, continued interaction between you and Theo. It begins when you log in, launch, reconnect, or reload the workspace, and ends when you log out or close it. The session holds your identity, context, and in-progress work so you can leave and return to the same research state.

Sources are session-scoped: every chat in the session can use them. Artifacts are chat-scoped: they belong to the chat that produced them, while remaining part of the session’s broader research record.

Use one session for one research topic. Create additional chats inside that session when you want separate questions or branches to share the same sources.
